How to make money online with Google Adsense

Google Adsense is a great revenue stream for any website that takes the effort of creating good readable content. The problem we have in recent times is that webmasters are lazy and often use copied content or spin content in the hope that they will leverage SEO and bring organic traffic to their website that in-turn will get clicks on to their ads. This just will not happen. My experience in the past 20 years within using Google Adsense and setting up accounts under my employer has shown me that you have to strategically place your adverts and also keep the user engaged in your content lowering the bounce rate of your website. Many advertisers/webmasters often ask my opinions on “How to make money online with Google Adsense” and I always ask what is their long term goal, and overall strategy to enhance click through rates.

What you will not see on brand and product websites is Google Adsense. Why? you may ask. The reason for this is that ist is basic CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation). If I am selling a product on one of my e-commerce websites then I don’t want to take users away from the website by clicking an advert. I initially want them to go through the funnel process and purchase a product of mine. This is where webmasters get confused. It is really marketing 101. Do not advertise Pay Per Click ads on a product website. Only advertise on websites where applicable like blogs.

So how to make money online with Google Adsense

The most personally I made per month on 1 account is around £3300. The most I have made an employer from zero is £27,000 a month. Why the difference? I use to work for a large software company in the Mediterranean (name undisclosed) the business in mention had 1 large product website where they sold their software. This website did not have Google Adsense on the website as we wanted the user to keep on the website and buy the product. They did have another 12 websites that they monetised through Google Adsense and banner ads relating to the main software website.

The other websites are aged sites that have generic content but useful to the search term they enquired for. Some of these sites had in excess of 80,000 pages on 1 website. As these sites had great authority and great organic traffic up to 100,000 hits and more per website I suggested strategically placing Google Adsense on each post which was relatively easy to do. As we saw the income come through we created experiments and got to a healthy monthly profit.

Let me re-iterate that you do not need 80,000 pages to make this much on Google Adsense but if you had 80,000 pages of good content then you will certainly make a good living out of it.

Also a little moan at webmasters who read this. Please just don’t add any placement on the websites without colour coding first. Many website owners who ask me to review their website and then ask How to make money online with Google Adsense and they have poor placements or colours do not match their theme/template or even font styling is hideous to the font they actually use on their own website. Keep it all consistent, keeps ads within the flow of the theme.

All it takes sometimes is one post and lots of research. One example would be on a WordPress news site I created 6 months ago for my ex-employer. I was using WP RSS Aggregator and used RSS feeds to post full content and images on a news feed website. One of the biggest topics that came to light was the death of George Michael. That day I received over 40 clicks as my on-site SEO was exceptional and pinged my post to get indexed several times. Hours ahead I created my own variants of that post use LSI keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing) and leveraged every opportunity to gain organic traffic to my pages and gain clicks on my banners.
